Have any of you seen the samples of some of Rich's new videos on 99cent downloads? He's really cranking out some good stuff. I'm quite impressed. The Somewhere over the Rainbow solo guitar arrangement is great.
So what tunes and ideas are you guys and gals working on? I'm doing a solo arrangement of The Days of Wine and Roses as well as working on targeting chord tones for my improv on There will Never Be Another You. It's an easy tune to solo over, but takes a little work to pull out chord tones and really follow the changes.

Hi Eric,

My problem is that I'm working on bits of everything. I've really been working hard on the bebop jazz/blues comping from Rich and then the jazz licks lessons and the chord licks. I'm also working on playing along with my jazz backing discs trying to keep a harmonic approach to my improvisation as well as trying to swing my solos. Arpeggios, Mixolydian, Dorian scales etc etc. I've been playing rock and blues guitar for 30 years but my passion now is jazz guitar which I've only been seriously studying for three years. I work out my own songs and melodies over the rhythm changes. I'm trying to develop my ear to hear these things and then to play them. As I am self taught I don't know a great deal of theory but I improvise until the cows come home! I make loads of mistakes but when I get it right it is indeed a wonderful spiritual moment. I would love to develop my picking hand to be able to play those double time bebop solos a la Pat Martino, George Benson, Mike Stern etc. Any lessons or help on that would be greatly appreciated. I'm quite a novice when it comes to jazz but that's where it's at for me now. Do you have any great swinging jazz/blues bebop backing discs that I could play my bebop solos to, which is yet another set of lessons I will be purchasing from Rich?

Johnny B
