The "Real Book" is a fake book that has been use by musician for years. The song in the book are "Real Songs" that might be played at an engagment or gig. Charts are simply present the melody with the basic chords written above. It is up to the musician to bring these tunes "to life" with his interpretation and arrangement of the chart.
This series shows how a jazz guitarist might take the basic chords presented in in the Real Book and apply substitutions, inversions and chord moves or riffs to make a lush accompaniment that is both interesting and melodic. Some songs also show walking bass lines with the chords. Music is written in tab and notation plus chord grids and the Real Book lead sheet.
