I absolutely love Macs. I run both the Windows OS and Apple's OS X on my Macs. I can honestly say that both operating systems (including Vista) run very well on my newer Macs.

As a musician, Apple has native programs that are excellent for musicians such as Garageband 9 which is capable of producing digital 24-bit recordings. You can upgrade to Apple's amazing Pro Logic 8, or get the package that is Logic Studio.

Some people don't like Garageband and/or Pro Logic, but I contend that these are very powerful applications. Some people don't know what these applications are capable of.

Here is an example of one way that I use these music applications. I use Sibelius 5 frequently. Sibelius 5 is a notation program to write sheet music. I can save a score as a MIDI file instead of a Sibelius file (.sib). Through Garageband itself, I can pull that MIDI file with a mouse and drag it into the work field, Garageband will automatically create parts for the entire score, while observing the metronome marking, time signature, key and all parts as written. All I have to do is engineer the recording which is really easy. I send it into iTunes and its gets converting in MP3 format.

For a listen to what a Garageband can do, listen to 'AIC Sample' and 'Sanctuary Sample' on my My Space Music page. You're going to be listening to streaming audio and doesn't sound anywhere as good as the original 24-bit recording, but it will at least give you an idea on what could be easily done on a Mac.
