Hello everyone my name is Mike I'm new to the forum.
I need your help, I have been reviewing the courses and trying to decide whats best for me....here's a little background information.
I've been playing for a very long time mostly R&B Al Green,Motown type of stuff. I started to play smooth jazz about 3years ago,George Benson,Norman Brown,Paul Brown etc.

I feel like my playing is OK but I want to have my own style and not just learning someones licks. so the question is should I start with College Starter Pack or the Bebop/blue jazz course I really like what I have seen on the Bebop stuff.

I want to become a Jazz Guitarist.

Thank You !

Well you should call Rich and talk this through just to be certain. But I'd say from what you are saying, you should start with Theory and Technique One and Jazz One. And you might like to consider the Rhythm course. Most poeple who have been playing a long time get into a groove which isn't always the best they could play - it's just an easy groove that gets the job done. But who really just wants to be average or playing less than we could be. Getting to be the best you can be has to be a smart move.

So, I'd say the Theory and Technique courses together with the Rhythm one, will completely overhaul your basics - building and reinforcing your playing foundations. Then getting to start playing some jazz on the Jazz One Course will get you started on building new nobers for your repetoire and into new genres.

Hi Chris,

I thank you very much for the feedback. I have read some of the commits you have posted on different topic and I'm very impressed with your statements. you may be correct about the theory courses and the jazz one course. I just want to focus and become a better player and starting with the right material will make a difference.

Thank you !

Hi Mike,
I agree with Chris. The Jazz I course and Theory & Technique I are a great place to start. You'll make progress toward your goal of being a jazz guitarist immediately.

Thanks Eric & Chris

You all were correct, also I spoke with Rich and he said to start with Theory for the Road and Guitar Theory & Technique. This is my fourth day working on the material going well.

Thanks !
