   | I just heard from a friend in North Carolina who bought 2 of Hofner's H5s and loves them. I thought we should start a discussion about them. They're affordable and play great. My latest one is a natural with a mounted pickup. Hofner really has a winner here.

   | Hey Rich, Are these from the Contemporary series? I've seen the Very Thin from this series at an incredible price.

   | Hi All, I ordered a Cherry H5 with a floating pickup a couple of days ago. I can't wait for it to arrive. Any good ideas on how to set it up?

 Thanks,
 James

   | I live in the Nashville area and oddly cannot find many stores that stock archtops that can be played and tested before purchase. I'm in the market for a jazzbox under $1K and I was wondering how the Hofner H5 fared against the likes of an Epiphone Emperor, Samick LaSalle JZ4 or a Stromberg Newport. Anybody had experience with these? Thanks for the input. |

   | Kurt, Yes I believe these are a cut above the Epiphone and the Samick. The 25" scale is unique as well as the appointments. The Stromberg is a Epi Joe Pass Asian built but with US electronics. They are very nice but more expensive. If you want a nice archtop don't hesitate on the H5
