I 've been playing an L4ces for the last 10+ years. I have many others that I play including an L5 but I keep coming back to the L4ces. They are the ultimate jazz guitar in my book. Here's the only other one I've ever seen at a guitar show so I had to buy it. I thought hard about keeping it but do I really need 2 of them? (Gail says no.) The L4 is the same size as a 175 but with a solid spruce top, ebony fretboard and here's the clincher the front pickup is directly next to the neck giving it a mellow, jazz sound. The 175 has about an inch of spacing between the pick up and the neck which gives it a more trebly sound. I've found that the further the pickup is away from the bridge the smoother the sound. The L4 also has the L5 tail piece and pick guard and drips with that sweet, jazz guitar tone. Notice the nice maple flame of the sides and back. This is a 2003 with minimal fret wear and cleaned up beautifully. There are no dings but slight wear on the rear pickup and tail piece bass side. If a 10 is a brand spankin' new one I would rate this is a 9. It also includes a Gibson hard shell case and free ground shipping within the continental U.S. If you have questions or would like to buy it, you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or give me a call at 559-642-2597.
